The Worst, Strangest, Funniest Band Names of 2008

Posted by matason on Monday, 22 December, 2008 - 11:43

A recently dugg post on avclub.com entitled "2008, The Year in Band Names", reminded me I'd been in two bands, both of which had strange and slightly bizarre names!

"Essential Cheese" were (are?) a band I played drums with during my time at Chichester College of Technology. We had a LOT of fun writing such tracks as "Orange Yoga", "Mean Mutha Driving Machine" and "Psychadelic Dwarf", the Cheese consisted of:-

Craig Greehouse - synths and vocals

Rob Hall - guitars and vocals

Gary Blundell - bass, vocals and harmonica

Me - drums

Watch this space for news on the Cheese!

The second band I played drums with were called "Ten Billion Butterfly Sneezes", the name was taken from a line in a Moody Blues track that John, the singer, was particularly fond of. We had some laughs and our defining moment was a gig supporting another band at Weymouth College.

I lost touch with the guys when I moved away from Dorset, John sang, Paul played guitars and had the rather wonderful Jem 777 and the bass player might have been Gary?

I'd love to get in touch with them again so if anyone remembers the band and has any info I'd appreciate it!
