Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue DRUPALTHON!!!
The team working away into the wee small hours.
So last weekend a group of folk from all over the north (Manchester, Stoke, Bradford, Leeds, York and beyond) converged on Langdale in the Lake District to help rebuild the Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team website.
Nick Owen from LAMRT gave a presentation on the vital yet dangerous work the team does, all of them, dogs included, are volunteers who regularly risk life and limb to rescue those who come unstuck on the mountains and hills.
We had a great time, Rebecca and Em came along too, we met some great people, ate some lovely food (thanks Duck) and had a lot of fun building the site in Drupal.
I helped work on migrating the incident report section of the site, the team publishes details of all the rescue missions they perform along with photos and video. David worked on scraping and parsing the HTML from the old site, Andrew worked on getting maps into the incident reports and Dan and myself worked in import routines using Table Wizard, Schema and Migrate modules.
A short video of me trying to explain what the incident report data team were doing, yes, indeed - interviewed by Kamila Miara over at Pilot Internet
I'd love to do more of this kind of thing, so please get in touch if you've got ideas!
A huge 'hats off' to David Carpenter for organising and pulling the whole thing together, everyone did an amazing job!
